The National Skills Commission has analysed more than 1300 VET training package qualifications using natural language processing techniques to identify similarities between them.
The outputs of the model are available in a new searchable dashboard, the Exploratory Analysis of VET Qualification Similarity. The analysis covers qualifications from all 56 training packages from the National Register of VET from December 2020.
The similarity is drawn from five different sources - the qualification title and description, key words, core and elective unit titles - with overall similarity ranked from very high to low. The dashboard also shows the core and elective units taught across different qualifications.
More information about the Qualification Similarity Analysis and model can be found in the technical paper.
