Job ads at 12 year high

Online job advertisements have hit a 12 year high of 238,700, following a monthly increase of 19.1%, according to today’s release of the March 2021 Internet Vacancy Index (IVI).

This represents the 11th consecutive monthly increase in job advertisements, which now stand 96.4% above the level recorded in March 2020, the first month of economic restrictions relating to COVID-19.

All states have recorded monthly and yearly growth, with Western Australia seeing a 23.9% increase over the month, a jump of 5,300 job ads. South Australia has recorded the strongest yearly growth of job advertisements, of 133.3% which is an increase of 7,200 job advertisements.

The March 2021 Vacancy Report preliminary results are now available at lmip.gov.au.

The detailed IVI release, including occupational, regional and skill level data will be published on Wednesday 21 April 2021.
