Online job ads increase in August 2022

The NSC’s August Internet Vacancy Index (IVI) shows online job ads have risen by 2.6% (or 7,800 job advertisements) to stand at a series high of 309,900 in August. There has been sustained growth in recruitment activity over the past twelve months with job advertisements up by 42.0% (or 91,600).
The increase in job advertisements occurred across four of the five Skill Level groups, with the strongest percentage increases in:
- Skill Level 1 occupations (commensurate with Bachelor Degree or higher); up by 4.0% (or 4,000 job advertisements);
- Skill Level 3 occupations (commensurate with Certificate IV or III); up by 3.5% (or 1,500 job advertisements); and
- Skill Level 2 occupations (commensurate with Advanced Diploma or Diploma); up by 3.4% (or 1,100 job advertisements).
Job advertisements increased across 39 of the 48 detailed occupational groups during August 2022. General-Inquiry Clerks, Call Centre Workers, and Receptionists recorded the largest growth over the month (up by 940 job advertisements or 4.1%).
The August 2022 Vacancy Report detailed results are now available. The August 2022 Vacancy (Preliminary) Report and results have been revised to align with the August 2022 Vacancy Report and detailed results. June, July and August 2022 data were revised marginally upwards in the revised release following the identification of missing job advertisements from one of the NSC’s data providers.
