Online job ads increase in June 2022

The National Skills Commission Internet Vacancy Index (IVI) preliminary results show online job advertisements increased by 1.2% (3,700 job advertisements) in June 2022, to 303,400.

Recruitment activity increased across all states and territories during June 2022 except for the Northern Territory (down by 0.8% or 30 job ads). The strongest growth was recorded in Tasmania, where recruitment activity was up by 4.7% (200 job ads), followed by Victoria (4.3% or 3,400 job ads) and South Australia (2.8% or 430 job ads).

Job advertisements have now increased for six consecutive months and in June 2022 stand at their highest level since April 2008.

Further, in comparison to levels of recruitment activity observed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic*, online job advertisements are up by 80.3% (135,200 job ads). This growth is reflected across all jurisdictions, with increases ranging from 40.8% (2,400 job ads) in the ACT to 149.8% (2,600 job ads) in Tasmania.
